Prizes, Registration, and Awards

MSA Prize Book

Classes must be held in the order they appear in the prize list.  The current Prize Book can be accessed by clicking the button on the left.

Registration of Horses, Ponies and Riders

No points will be counted which are gained by either horse or rider prior to registration. Both the horse and rider must be registered with MSA before either can accumulate points.  Riders may pre-register or register at the shows before competing.

In order to retain performance points won the previous year (s), a horse must be re-registered prior to January 31 of the current year. Once a horse has received an accumulative award, it is not eligible to receive the same award.

Horses must be entered under their original recorded names unless the name is officially changed.  Purchasers of horses which have acquired MSA points under their previous owners must re-register the horse in order to maintain the continuity of points.

Accumulative Awards and Points

Awards are presented at the annual awards ceremony.       There will be two performance divisions, English and Western, in which a horse or pony may accumulate points, and in which awards will be presented annually. A horse or pony may receive an award in both the English and Western divisions; however, English and Western performance points will not be combined.

Accumulative awards are:

50 points. . . . . . . . . . The Achievement Award

150 points. . . . . . . .  The Award of Merit

300 points. . . . . . . .  The Championship Award

500 points. . . . . . . .  The Grand Championship Award

750 points. . . . . . . .  The Superior Award

1000 points. . . . . . .  The Award of Excellence

Annual Awards

There will be performance divisions in which registered horses and ponies may accumulate points and annual awards will be presented. There are rider divisions based on the age of the rider for riders to accumulate points for annual awards. There will be Conformation Divisions in which any horse registered with MSA may accumulate points towards annual awards.
